Multiple Team Members Earn Esteemed 2012 Angie’s List Super Service Award

Multiple American Leak Detection territories have earned the service industry-coveted 2012 Angie’s List Super Service Award, an honor awarded annually to approximately 5 percent of all the companies rated on Angie’s List, the nation’s leading provider of consumer reviews on local service companies. This year’s winning offices include Indianapolis, Seattle, Portland, Orange County CA, Tampa, Las Vegas, Little Rock, Miami, East Bay CA, Palm Beach and Jacksonville.

“Our employees really strive to provide the best customer service available and we are very proud to see them recognized for their outstanding efforts,” said Patrick Desouza, Executive Chairman of American Leak Detection.

“It’s a select group of companies rated on Angie’s List that can claim the exemplary customer service record of being a Super Service Award winner,” said Angie’s List Founder Angie Hicks. “Our standards for the Super Service Award are quite high. Angie’s List Super Service Award 2012 winners have met strict eligibility requirements, including earning a minimum number of reports, an excellent rating from their customers and abiding by Angie’s List operational guidelines.

Service company ratings are updated daily on Angie’s List. Companies are graded on an A through F scale in areas ranging from price to professionalism to punctuality. Members can find the 2012 Super Service Award logo next to company names in search results on AngiesList.com.

Angie’s List helps consumers have happy transactions with local service professionals in more than 550 categories of service, ranging from home improvement to health care. American Leak Detection Team Members Receive Accolades During Annual Convention

Hundreds of individual American Leak Detection owners gathered from across the globe in November for the annual company-wide convention hosted by corporate staff in New Orleans. The four day event incorporated an Awards Night Gala, training sessions, hands-on workshops and a sold-out floor trade show.

Franchisee of the Year Rusty and Vivian Lee

American Leak Detection of Southwest Florida Owners Rusty and Vivian Lee were awarded the most prestigious honor, Franchisee of the Year. More than 140 offices in six countries are considered for this award annually. It recognizes exemplary and model performance in customer service, increased revenue, franchise system participation and community service.

The Lee’s, who reside in Punta Gorda Fla., have owned their American Leak Detection territory since April 1994. They employee two office staff members and operate five service trucks. They were previously named Franchisee of the Year in 2001. Their leak detection technicians service Sarasota, Lee, Collier, Manatee, Charlotte, Highlands, Hardee, Glades and Hendry Counties.

“American Leak Detection franchisees are the best of the best,” says Executive Chairman Patrick DeSouza. “It’s always a pleasure to honor them with the recognition they so richly deserve.  We’re proud of all of our franchisees and this year’s award winners clearly rose to the top of their game.”

Other winners included:

-Bobby and Anne Knell, along with their son Will of Plano, Texas were awarded the Richard B. Rennick Entrepreneur of the Year Award, named after the company’s founder. This recognition honors a team who demonstrates innovative management skills and is a risk taker in a franchise which remains active in the local community.

The Knell family has owned and operated American Leak Detection of Dallas for 25 years and employs 13 staff while operating 9 service trucks.

-Business owners Matthew and Shari Botermans of Medford, Ore. were named the company’s Brand Champion for 2011. This recognition honors an individual that executes a successful marketing plan, one who makes the most of a broad mix of marketing activities and utilizes corporate programs to their advantage.

Aside from this achievement, the duo was also named the “Most Enthusiastic” team member in the franchise system and received First Place for their Quality Customer Service in the 4+ trucks category. The Boterman’s have owned and operated American Leak Detection of Portland and Southern Oregon since July 2001, employing 10 staff and operating 6 service trucks.

-Vern McCollough of Jenks, Ok. was recognized for his outstanding Community Service. This recognition honors a team who continually goes above and beyond to serve their community in both traditional and nontraditional ways. The McCollough’s office staff are involved annually with multiple local organizations. More than 140 offices in six countries are considered for these awards annually.

McCollough has owned and operated his American Leak Detection locations for 17 years in Eastern Oklahoma, Kansas, Kansas City, Southwest Missouri and St. Louis, Mo. He employs 19 staff and operates 10 service trucks.

-Phil and Robin Meckley of Fullerton, Calif. were named the franchise system’s Outstanding National Performer for 2011. This award recognizes the top producer amongst 140 offices in six countries. The Meckley’s have owned American Leak Detection locations for 26 years in Orange County, Riverside, Pomona, San Diego, Houston and Hawaii. They employ 40 staff members and operate 25 service trucks.

GI Jobs recognition- named Military Friendly Franchise

American Leak detection, along with 121 other VetFran members, have been recognized by GI Jobs and MilitaryFranchising.com on its 2012 “Military Friendly” List, an annual survey. This annual survey states that since last year, almost 4,000 veterans became franchise business owners, representing a 35 percent increase.

For the past three years, G.I. Jobs has published a list naming the top seven percent of franchises who do the most to recruit America’s veterans.

“Many of our franchisees have been in the military and the training they received makes them great candidates for franchise ownership,” says Judy Howard, director of franchise relations at ALD. “Our concept is affordable and we offer a discount to honorably discharged military veterans when they join our team.”

The American Leak Detection corporate office is proud to participate in the International Franchise Association’s VetFran Program where a $5,000 discount is offered on the initial franchise fee. This fee ranges from $29,500 to $80,000.

Wayne McCollough of Tulsa, Ok. was named the company’s Brand Champion for 2010. This recognition honors an individual that executes a successful marketing plan, one who makes the most of a broad mix of marketing activities and utilizes corporate programs to their advantage. McCollough was also named an Outstanding Regional Performer in the Midwest region for 2010. More than 140 offices in eight countries are considered for these awards annually.

“It’s a pleasure to recognize a team who is doing a lot of things right with their marketing dollars, growing their business and raising brand awareness throughout a large and varied market,” says Adam Gray, marketing and brand manager. “This team stands out and has set a high standard.  They have tried new marketing strategies throughout their many franchise locations and have been smart with their decisions.”

McCollough has acted as the Marketing and Advertising Director with American Leak Detection locations for 16 years in Eastern Oklahoma, Kansas, Kansas City, Southwest Missouri and St. Louis, Mo. His brother Vern McCollough owns the multiple locations where he employs 19 staff and operates 10 service trucks.

Thomas Walker of Brighton, Mich. was named the company’s Technician of the Year for 2010. This award recognizes a technician who exemplifies the best qualities of the profession. Someone who strives to stay on top of the industry’s best practices, technologies and exudes customer service. Technicians from over 140 offices in eight countries are considered for this award annually.

“Thomas has all the standards we look for in a superior technician,” said Jimmy Carter, senior director of corporate field services. “From the number of positive letters, notes and phone calls the franchisees receive from customers, there is no doubt the tech provides great customer service. Because of the seasonality of the territory where he works, he frequently spends his winters working for several other franchisees and they all have great things to say about him.”

Walker was nominated by Tom and Marcia Rose, owners of American Leak Detection of Southeast Michigan. He has worked as a technician for nine years.

Rick Winters of Spring, Tx. was named the company’s Office Personnel of the Year for 2010. This award recognizes an individual who strives to stay on top of the industry’s best practices, keeps the office running efficiently and exudes superior customer service. Office personnel from over 140 offices in eight countries are considered for this award annually.

“This nominee shows the leadership and drive essential to the success of a satellite office,” says Bill Palmer, company president. “Rick leads a hard working group of people to new heights of performance and growth.  When the franchisee is asked how he runs a satellite office, his answer is he doesn’t.  He has a strong team with an outstanding leader that takes care of business.”

Winters has managed the Houston office for two years. He was nominated by Phil Meckley, owner of American Leak Detection of Houston, who was also named the franchise system’s Outstanding National Performer for 2010.

Canadian Leak Detection of Ontario Owners Paul and Evelyn Gavel were awarded the most prestigious honor, Franchisee of the Year. More than 140 offices in eight countries are considered for this award annually. It recognizes exemplary and model performance in customer service, increased revenue, franchise system participation and community service.

This was the first year a Canadian office was awarded Franchisee of the Year. For the fourth consecutive year, they were also named Outstanding Regional Performers in the Northeast Region. The Gavels, who reside in Frankford, Ontario, have owned their Canadian Leak Detection office since 1996. Their leak detection technicians service Toronto, Northern and Eastern Ontario.

Joe and Aimee Bates of Redding, CA received the Rookie of the Year Award for 2010. This recognition honors a team member who has put American Leak Detection procedures into action pertaining to equipment, trucks, safety, the business plan and marketing tactics. More than 140 offices in eight countries are considered for this award annually.

The Bates purchased American Leak Detection of Northern California from Aimee’s parents, Tom and Karen Routon, when they chose to retire in 2008.

“This team is showing strong growth within a relatively rural territory,” says Bill Palmer, company president. “They have been involved with their region activities as well as the California Rural Water Association. They continue adding to their list of services and now have many local municipalities as loyal and happy customers. I believe this team is poised and ready for great things.”
