A group of Millville, New Jersey, Job Corps students is making sure a community pool will be open this summer by volunteering their time and talent to help out members in their community. The team, a carpentry class from the Red Rock Job Corps, is replacing the old liner of the Fishing Creek Area Community Pool – something that might be costly and time-consuming to the community without their help.
According to Scranton, Pennsylvania, ABC affiliate WNEP, the class offered to do the project for free after hearing the community had enough funds to purchase the new pool liner, but not enough to pay to get it in place in time for summer. The students said they enjoy volunteering to place the swimming pool liner, because they are helping out their community while gaining their own experience in the field.
“I guess they probably have a bunch of little kids here who want to swim and whatever it takes to do it, we’re going to do it,” Ervin Coles, one of the students, told WNEP.
