Coca-Cola launches water conservation program

The Coca-Cola Company recently launched a water conservation program called Every Drop Matters. The program aims to increase understanding and awareness of water conservation issues facing local communities, as well as the many ways responsible water use can help protect the environment and make cities more sustainable.

Water World reported the program leverages consistent and in-depth advocacy and communication efforts to get community members involved in the movement. The program includes school contests, intercollegiate competitions and teacher workshops to boost water conservation educational efforts.

Also using education as a tool, the Mountain View Preparatory Academy in Arizona is working with kindergarten students to teach the importance of water conservation as a means to protect the planet and valuable resources.

The Verde Independent reported kindergarten students at the academy will be exposed to a plethora of water topics as well as hands-on workshops to illustrate the importance of responsible water use. The students will take outdoor field trips to study sources of water while discussing floodplain deposits, groundwater surface water interface and other conservation issues.
