Dear Keith,

Just wanted to drop a note thanking your staff for dropping by and introducing us to the B-Enviornmental urinal enzyme screens. They seem to be doing a very good job keeping the restrooms fresh here. We have had zero urinal stoppages since we began using these.

Description of Work: Detected a serious leak in the main water line to the house and repaired it in a professional and efficient manner.

Member Comments: My September (2011) water bill jumped from $30 average to $120. After having the LVV Water District replace the meter it was decided I had a serious water leak somewhere. I checked Angie’s list and phoned MC Plumbing who checked out the problem and decided it was either in the main water line or in the house and quoted me $7256 to reroute the main line or $8138 to re-plumb the house. I decided to get another estimate and phoned Red Carpet Plumbingand explained the problem and that MC Plumbing had been here earlier. They gave me an estimate of $3945 to replace the main water line through the attic and down to the inlet to the house.
I then phoned American Leak Detection who came out, spent about an hour and found the leak right outside the house. A $275 detection charge (less a 10% Angie’s List coupon) and a repair bill of $700 (less 5% Angie’s List coupon) and within 3 hours and one part it was repaired. Rob from American Leak and his assistant were punctual, truthful, and efficient. If I ever have another leak in the water line my first call will be to American Leak Detection – they were great.

Description of Work: We noticed that our water bill was almost 3 times as much as it should be, and therefore checked for a leak. Finding none, we isolated the water system and noticed that the meter was still running full speed. This lead us to believe it was an under the slab leak. Since our home is nearly 30 years old...that was most likely the issue. We needed a contractor that could detect such leaks...so we made an appointment for the earliest time available and they showed up within the time frame and tested for the water leak with their apparatus. They told us upfront the cost of the detection services and that they would put a couple of estimates together and email them to us pronto. They were good for their word and we got them in 24 hrs. We approved one of the estimates and they began work the next day. We initially were going to go the cheaper route--run another pipe through the broken one under the slab, but after they open the walls we discovered that the original builder used smaller copper lines than normal...so we were forced to go the slightly more expensive route and go overhead with some pretty fabulous flexible pipe that they warranty for 25 years. Repair done and fixed in less than 3 hours start to finish. Then we scheduled them to come out another day to fix the additional 2 leaks...and they did...in less than one day.

Member Comments: Member Comments:

They did a super job. And even though it seemed a bit pricey, they did repipe all the house fixtures and sent a team of 3 guys to do it quickly and efficiently. There were only minor inconveniences to speak of like several holes in the living room and bathroom walls....which of course they don't repair--none of the plumbers in Vegas do....so be prepared to DIY or hire a drywall patch/painting contractor. There was very little mess because they used plastic to cover everything. They were also very polite, professional, and prompt. They explained things pretty thoroughly and gave honest answers to all of our questions--even the girly ones that I tended to ask. But I think what really sealed the deal was that they worked with us on making payments for the services they provided...because seldom do homeowners have that much extra money laying around especially in this terrible economy. We were very impressed....and would use them again in a heartbeat.

Description of Work: They were hired to find a leak in my water system. They believed it was in the main line, but the noise wasn't sufficfient to be sure.. They returned with a trank of helium to trace the source. Their suspicions proved correct, and I have hired them to replace the main line.

Member Comments: They were prompt in returning my inquiry, told me the price for detection immediately, showed up at the appointed time, and spent a really long time looking for the leak. Not satisfied with the ulltrasound results they returned a few days later with the helium to make sure.

Description of Work: Plumbing

Member Comments: Jon arrived precisely when he said he would, and was immediately very easy to communicate and deal with. I explained that I knew I had a leak under my slab, had calculated how much it was leaking, but had no idea where it was or what it'd take to fix it. He asked all the right questions, I told him what I knew, and he immediately began very logical and thorough troubleshooting. Once he learned where everything was (main valve, meter, hot water heater, sinks), began formulating theories, every step of the way confirming them before moving on. He listened to various places in the house with his microphone, and very quickly determined the leak was on a cold water line, under the kitchen floor. (Not at all where I suspected). Once that was determined, he brought in another very slick tool that traced the path of the pipe, and calculated the depth, which indicated he pipe was in fact embedded in the slab and not below it. Next it needed to be learned whether the leak was in the main line feeding the house (my worst fear) or a branch feeding the kitchen sink.

He suspected there would be a manifold somewhere, which needed to be found in order to learn this. Knowing what he did about 1974 construction… he took his best guess and cut a small hole in the sheetrock in a bedroom wall behind the hot water heater. He couldn't have been more accurate; it was EXACTLY behind the hole he cut. He was then able to listen to the branches and quickly determine without a doubt it was the branch feeding the sink.

All in all, it was very impressive and clear that this guy knew what he was doing. In addition, Jon shared with me all of his thoughts on the best ways to approach fixing it, what the costs might be, and I learned a tremendous amount. He in no way tried to get the job for himself, but rather laid out a clear path for me to do the work myself if I chose to, suggesting the final step of cutting and capping the offending pipe to in fact prove it was the one, and the materials he would use. He gave me a quote for the repair, ($1200) and then several times knocked that price down (I had helped him a little with some of his electronics; this what I do for a living, so there was a little trading going on which is fantastic). Incidentally, I entirely forgot to mention Angie's list to him for the discount, and he still knocked down the price of the leak detection for me, normally $275. I initially thought I would have him do the work, but in the end I did it myself. Using PEX pipe & Sharkbite components made the plumbing part a breeze. Cutting into exterior stucco walls, and crawling around in the hot cramped attic drilling down through top plates was NO fun; yes I believe his quote of $1200 for that work was more than fair, but it was through his honesty and generosity that I was able to save that cost and do it myself.
I am convinced that I called exactly the right guy to do this job, and that there would be very few plumbers that would have the tools or the expertise to do what he did as quickly and efficiently as he did. If you have a leak to find, this is the person to call. And beyond being skilled and professional, it is very refreshing to find someone as forthcoming and honest as this who is genuinely all about helping to get the job done. The value of what I got was well beyond the low price I paid. And I find that very rare these days. 'Nuff said.

Description of Work: Plumbing

Member Comments: I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the exceptional customer service, quality of work and true professionalism exhibited by Technician Rob Collins, while at my house on October 28, 2011.

I was provided a number of referrals from the Las Vegas Water District to assist me in detecting a water leak on my property at my residential home in Mt. Charleston. After extensive research on the companies I found your company to be very highly rated on Angie’s List and throughout the community. This leak was not easy to detect, however Rob made the entire process very easy, he showed up to my residence on time and prepared with every piece of equipment necessary to perform the job.

As an owner builder I have been involved in a number of residential construction jobs, I am in constant contact with all the construction trades and subcontractors. As a result of the job Rob Collins performed I would place American Leak Detection at the top of my list of companies I have worked with.

I want to commend Rob Collins for the great job he did. I am sure that there are several leak detection specialists out there, but Rob’s professionalism, thoroughness and expert knowledge makes your company the absolute best in my books.

Description of Work: They had to re-pipe all of our hot water lines through our attic. It was a very extensive job.

Member Comments: They were very good and they did a fine job. The city of Las Vegas had inspectors at every stage; in order to go onto the next stage they had to pass each inspection. Everyone within their group knew the business and knew what they were doing. They were very professional. Their follow up crew that did the patching up and painting work were very good as well. Their work speaks for itself
