Description of Work: Our water bill was much higher than expected for the winter. After doing some simple tests ourselves we determined there was a leak somewhere between the house and the meter. A technician came out and ran through a series of tests to locate the position of the leak and marked the likely leak location.
Member Comments: After having American Leak Detection locate the leak we had a plumber come out to repair the leak. A piece of information that would have more fully informed the plumber was the depth of the leak. When the plumber called the technician who performed the testing the technician provided a somewhat glib answer to look in the crawlspace beneath the house to get an idea of how deep to dig and did not offer other suggestions. The leak was eventually found about four feet down, which was a foot deeper than the crawlspace because of the angle of the pipe at that point. The leak was found within about three feet of the identified location. Overall we were satisfied that the technician was able to locate a relatively difficult leak under gravel and rock. However, the professionalism could have been a better when working with the plumber. Whether it be an apology or an acknowledgement that the technician didn't identify the depth of the leak. Our general frustration is with the attitude of blaming the "other guy" as the source of the problem rather than trying to make it work.

Description of Work: We had a leak in the main water line from the street to the house, but didn't know exactly where. John from ALD came out, was a little bit late, but found the leak pretty quickly. John was very professional and helpful. There was a two hour minimum charge for the service call, it did not take him the entire two hours to complete what we needed so he offerred to inspect plumbing through-out the house. BONUS!
Member Comments: The water company was reading our meter where they found it to be running a muck!! The meter reader told us the bill was at about $400 and we should do something right away. We moved into this house about 4 months prior so we called the home warranty company. They contacted a plumber who came out right away. The plumber could tell the leak was somewhere in the front yard but couldn't tell exactly where. This of course meant the warranty company would not cover it, and on a side note neither did our home owner's insurance. The plumber recommended American Leak Detection, and we are so glad he did. They came right out, found the leak and dug it up. I would absolutely recommend this company.

Called American Leak Detection off of Angies list, John the tech. was on time, very professional, found the leak within 30 or 40 minutes, marked where the leak was, and then I called a plumber off of Angies list. Description of Work: Unfortunately I had two leaks in my water pipes, which they were able to locate.
Member Comments: The work went very well. Throughout the process, the technicians were incredibly efficient, knew exactly what they were doing, and were thorough. They explained to me what they were doing, and told me what the price was upfront. Their prices were not inexpensive, but were reasonable. They honored a 10% senior discount. After much searching, they found the leak, but there was still water leaking somewhere. The first leak, they found right on with no real problems. They had to come back for the second leak, which was a bit more difficult. There was extensive digging and it took quite a bit of time for this second leak. When they dug up the second leak, they discovered that the original contractor had dumped all the access electrical wires, and debris, into the ditch, on top of the pipe, which sealed the real leak. They were able to take care of the problem, and I’ve noticed a big decrease in my water bill. I think they did a good job, and I would recommend them.

He tested my lines, so I know it is not from any of my lines. I have a vinyl liner and he did dive around and look around and fix some leaks.
