Pool Leak Repair in Athens, AL

Precise Diagnostics & Targeted Repair for Athens Pool Owners

A dropping water line isn’t a mystery. It’s a measurable mechanical fault in a sealed hydraulic loop, and it has a specific location. At American Leak Detection, we find that location before anything is opened, dug, or disrupted. Our two-stage model separates the comprehensive diagnostic inspection from the targeted repair, so you receive hard data on the exact failure point and authorize each step on your terms. That’s the “Know Before You Go” approach, backed by over 40 years of industry experience and the proprietary techniques of the original Leak Detection Specialists™.

Athens, AL homeowners refilling their pools every few days are paying for water escaping through one specific, locatable point. Our technicians use sensory equipment to map that point before any digging occurs, operating under our core principle: Leak Detection Without Destruction™.

Stop guessing and start with a diagnostic. Call American Leak Detection at (866) 701-5306 to schedule your pool leak inspection in Athens.

Four Signs Your Athens Pool Has a Leak

Normal evaporation accounts for some daily water loss, but a pool operating as a breached sealed hydraulic loop produces operational errors that evaporation doesn’t. These four warning signs point to a real leak:

  • Constant Chemical Imbalance: Continuously adding fresh hose water dilutes chlorine and stabilizer. If you’re fighting algae you can’t beat despite repeated treatment, hidden water loss is a likely cause.
  • Failed Baseline Tests: The bucket test is a reliable initial metric. Fill a bucket, place it on your pool steps, and mark both water levels. If the pool drops significantly faster than the bucket over 24 hours, evaporation isn’t the culprit.
  • Suction-Side Aeration: Continuous air bubbles from your return jets indicate a suction-side air leak, possibly a cracked pipe, a loose fitting, or a failing pump seal that is breaking the vacuum and introducing air into the filtration system.
  • Financial Discrepancies: A sharp, unexplained spike in your municipal water bill can indicate that a pressurized line is failing underground.

How North Alabama’s Soil & Climate Stress Pool Plumbing

Athens sits in Limestone County in the Tennessee Valley, on clay-rich soil that reacts to moisture in predictable but damaging ways. Clay expands when saturated and contracts sharply during dry spells, exerting cyclical pressure on buried PVC pipe and fittings beneath pool decks. This expansion-and-contraction cycle doesn’t stop.

The Tennessee Valley’s hot, humid summers and sudden heavy storms keep the ground moving year-round. August heat bakes the earth between storm events, which can also mask early leak symptoms by making elevated water loss look like routine evaporation. By the time the loss is undeniable, the failure point has often been active for weeks.

Why Athens Pool Owners Choose American Leak Detection

General pool service companies perform repairs, but they typically lack the sensory equipment and forensic diagnostic methodology that a dedicated leak detection operation requires. Our technicians are trained through a rigorous program designed to produce skilled leak detection professionals, and the proprietary techniques we’ve developed over four decades allow us to locate leaks without damaging your deck, landscaping, or pool structure.

After the diagnostic inspection, you receive the findings. If you want our repair team to address the failure point, you authorize that second stage. If you prefer to take the data to your own contractor, you can. We also offer LeakVue Services for verifying pool shell structural integrity when the diagnostic picture calls for it.

Our technicians arrive on time, work within the agreed timeframe, and leave your property clean. Honest, upfront pricing comes with every job.

"They came in, investigated with smoke, and fixed the problem. For the first time in two months, my house doesn't smell like a restaurant toilet."
“I had an awful rotten egg smell as soon as I bought our house. After calling two plumbers (who charged me a fee to tell me nothing was wrong), the Gas Company (no gas leak), and the Public Works Department, I finally called American Leak Detection. They came in, investigated with smoke, and fixed the problem. For the first time in two months, my house doesn't smell like a restaurant toilet. Highly recommend them!”
    - Sandi T.
"I can't say enough good things about their service!"
“I can't say enough good things about their service! We had a slab leak that flooded the master bedroom and they came as quickly as they could and then rearranged their work schedule so the repair could be made and we could once again have water turned on. The workmen were professional and efficient. I hope I never have to use that kind of service again but if so, they are he best.”
    - Carolyn R.
"After 30 years in this house, we have had many service people come to do work. No one has ever delivered better than Daniel."
“Tree roots had cracked my filter pipes and I was losing water badly. I was referred to American Leak Detection and set up an appointment. Daniel came out and did his best to diagnose the problem. He got very strange results and it was hard to determine the exact pipe(s) that were cracked but since I'd had a similar repair done 6 years ago and we could see evidence of the tree root damage from above, I felt confident we knew were the issue was and I contracted for the work. I was pleasantly surprised to see Daniel return to perform the work. I arranged to be home that day so I could see what he found. I supposed I hovered, taking pictures of the process, asking questions as he went along. He never got annoyed and answered every question with a smile. I don't think i ever saw anyone work harder. It was obvious from that start he had a lot of experience and knew what he was doing. Digging out the area had to be done mostly by hand which he did efficiently without complaints. He found multiple pipes cracked which explained the odd results during diagnosis. The job took longer than expected because it was difficult work and he ran out of daylight but on the job until he it wasn't possible anymore that day. Even though he was fully booked for the following day, his company rearranged his schedule so he could return the following afternoon. I returned home early from work and was able to see him complete the job. He even patched the deck with new concrete like an artisan, taking every care to make it as smooth and neat as possible. After 30 years in this house, we have had many service people come to do work. No one has ever delivered better than Daniel. He was competent, diligent, and pleasant. The cost wasn't cheap but it was fair. I don't mind at all paying for quality service.”
