Catch Water Problems Before They Become Major Damage

A hidden plumbing leak can continue for days, weeks, or even months before you see visible damage.

By the time water reaches the floor, ceiling, wall, or foundation, the problem may already involve damaged building materials, mold concerns, high water bills, and disruptive repairs.

Smart water-monitoring technology can help identify unusual water activity earlier. But receiving an alert is only the beginning.

You still need to know:

  • Is there really a leak?
  • Is the problem urgent?
  • Where could the water be coming from?
  • Should the water be shut off?
  • Do you need a plumber or leak-detection specialist?
  • What should happen next?

American Leak Detection helps provide the expertise and response path behind the alert.

Technology gives you the alert. ALD helps you understand it, respond, and resolve the problem.

Desk Review or On-Site Inspection?
  • Every home has different water risks.

Your plumbing system, home age, water usage, appliances, irrigation, foundation type, shutoff location, climate, and previous leak history can all affect the type of protection you need.

American Leak Detection helps you choose the right level of protection based on an assessment of your home and your priorities.

    Your recommended program may include:

    • Whole-home water-use monitoring
    • Unusual-flow alerts
    • Automatic water shutoff
    • Point-of-leak sensors
    • Mobile or online alert access
    • Professional alert review
    • Annual system checks
    • Preventive maintenance recommendations
    • Priority leak-detection support
    • Repair coordination assistance

We do not believe every home needs the same device or service plan. Our goal is to recommend a practical solution that fits your plumbing system, risk level, and budget.

  • Many monitoring systems can detect unusual water activity or automatically shut off the water.

However, a device may not tell you exactly what caused the alert.

An alert could be related to:

    • A leaking toilet
    • A dripping or damaged fixture
    • An appliance supply line
    • A water-heater problem
    • An irrigation leak
    • An underground service-line leak
    • Normal household water use

American Leak Detection helps you move from the alert to the appropriate next step.

Our team can review the available alert information, discuss what was happening in the home, and help determine whether the issue requires monitoring, maintenance, leak detection, emergency shutoff, or repair.

  • Water damage often becomes more severe when no one is home to notice the problem.

A monitoring and automatic shutoff system can be especially valuable for:

    • Second homes
    • Vacation properties
    • Frequent travelers
    • Snowbirds
    • Rental homes
    • Homes left vacant during renovations
    • Families who spend long periods away from home

When unusual flow is detected, the system may alert you or automatically shut off the water, depending on the equipment and settings selected.

ALD can help you determine what level of protection makes sense for how you use your home.

  • A device can notify you that something is wrong.

A complete water-protection plan helps answer:

    • Who receives the alert?
    • What should they check first?
    • When should the water be shut off?
    • When should ALD be contacted?
    • How quickly can someone respond?
    • What testing may be needed?
    • Who will help coordinate the repair?
    • How will you know the problem has been resolved?

American Leak Detection helps create that plan before an emergency happens.

  • Not sure which monitoring system or protection plan is right for your home?

American Leak Detection can review your plumbing system, water usage, previous leak history, risk areas, shutoff access, and protection goals.

We will help you understand your options and recommend a practical monitoring and response plan for your home.

How it Works
  • We start by learning about your home.

Depending on the property and service selected, we may review:

    • The age and type of your home
    • Plumbing layout and materials
    • Water-use habits
    • Previous leaks or water damage
    • High-risk fixtures and appliances
    • Irrigation, pools, and outdoor water systems
    • Main shutoff location and accessibility
    • Existing smart-home or monitoring devices
    • Your alert and response preferences
  • We recommend a monitoring and protection setup that matches your home.

This may include whole-home flow monitoring, automatic shutoff, point-of-leak sensors, or a combination of devices and support services.

  • ALD installs or helps coordinate installation of the recommended equipment.

We confirm that the device is positioned correctly, connected, and set up to monitor your home’s normal water activity.

  • Your system tracks water activity and sends alerts when it detects unusual flow or possible leakage.

Depending on the device and plan, you will be able to view water use, track patterns, and receive notifications through an app or dashboard.

  • When an alert occurs, ALD can help review the situation and recommend the next action.

  • When a leak is suspected or confirmed, American Leak Detection can help locate the source using minimally invasive diagnostic methods.

We can then help explain the findings and guide the repair process.

No monitoring device can prevent every water loss. However, earlier awareness and faster response can help reduce the amount of water released and the extent of resulting damage.

"They came in, investigated with smoke, and fixed the problem. For the first time in two months, my house doesn't smell like a restaurant toilet."
“I had an awful rotten egg smell as soon as I bought our house. After calling two plumbers (who charged me a fee to tell me nothing was wrong), the Gas Company (no gas leak), and the Public Works Department, I finally called American Leak Detection. They came in, investigated with smoke, and fixed the problem. For the first time in two months, my house doesn't smell like a restaurant toilet. Highly recommend them!”
    - Sandi T.
"I can't say enough good things about their service!"
“I can't say enough good things about their service! We had a slab leak that flooded the master bedroom and they came as quickly as they could and then rearranged their work schedule so the repair could be made and we could once again have water turned on. The workmen were professional and efficient. I hope I never have to use that kind of service again but if so, they are he best.”
    - Carolyn R.
"After 30 years in this house, we have had many service people come to do work. No one has ever delivered better than Daniel."
“Tree roots had cracked my filter pipes and I was losing water badly. I was referred to American Leak Detection and set up an appointment. Daniel came out and did his best to diagnose the problem. He got very strange results and it was hard to determine the exact pipe(s) that were cracked but since I'd had a similar repair done 6 years ago and we could see evidence of the tree root damage from above, I felt confident we knew were the issue was and I contracted for the work. I was pleasantly surprised to see Daniel return to perform the work. I arranged to be home that day so I could see what he found. I supposed I hovered, taking pictures of the process, asking questions as he went along. He never got annoyed and answered every question with a smile. I don't think i ever saw anyone work harder. It was obvious from that start he had a lot of experience and knew what he was doing. Digging out the area had to be done mostly by hand which he did efficiently without complaints. He found multiple pipes cracked which explained the odd results during diagnosis. The job took longer than expected because it was difficult work and he ran out of daylight but on the job until he it wasn't possible anymore that day. Even though he was fully booked for the following day, his company rearranged his schedule so he could return the following afternoon. I returned home early from work and was able to see him complete the job. He even patched the deck with new concrete like an artisan, taking every care to make it as smooth and neat as possible. After 30 years in this house, we have had many service people come to do work. No one has ever delivered better than Daniel. He was competent, diligent, and pleasant. The cost wasn't cheap but it was fair. I don't mind at all paying for quality service.”
