- Compare the two marks: If both marks dropped the same amount, that’s evaporation. If the pool’s outside mark dropped noticeably more than the inside mark, water is escaping the system, not lifting off it.

If the pool loses more water while the pump runs, the pressure side of the plumbing is the likely culprit.
