Residential Plumbing Slab Leak Detection
Turn to the World Leader in Non-Invasive Slab Leak Detection!
If your home is built on a slab, most likely the hot and cold water lines are underneath your slab. Since this plumbing is so well hidden, finding a slab leak is especially difficult—unless you call American Leak Detection™. Plumbing leaks can cost thousands of dollars. Resolving the problem can also be very expensive, especially if unskilled professionals are using "hit and miss" search or replacement strategies.
If a water meter is moving when no water is being used or your pump is constantly running, there is a leak in the potable water plumbing (i.e. drinking water plumbing). Sometimes the leak is in the service line that runs from the meter or pump to the house. More often the leak is hidden in either the hot or cold water lines beneath your home. Our efforts to locate a slab leak include tracking the plumbing lines, pressure testing the lines to determine whether there is a leak in the system; and, if there is a leak, determining the location of the water loss and marking the location.
American Leak Detection is the recognized world leader in non-invasive location of concealed leaks. As a franchise system, we invest a significant amount of our royalties back into research and development to make sure that the most innovative technology is being used to find your slab leak!

Warning signs that you may have a slab leak:
- Your water bill increased even though there has not been additional usage
- You can hear the sound of water even when no water is being used
- Cracks have developed in your foundation
- Water meter or pump changes
- Suddenly you have water appearing
- Mildew is developing
Water Meter or Pump Changes
You can use your water meter or pump to assess whether or not you may have a leak. Start by checking your water meter. Come back after an hour or two—make sure you don’t use any water in that time—and check your meter again. If the reading has changed, you have some type of leak. If you have a pump, try to listen to hear if it continues to run even when you aren’t using any water. This may also indicate a leak.
If you are unsure whether you have a leak or not, take the meter test.
